Launching in Utah
A four-star restaurant tells you nothing about the dish you're about to order. TasteRex rates dishes, not restaurants: score what you ate, rank it against everything else you've had, and find what others liked near you.

Rank beats score
Star averages blur together. On TasteRex every rating sits in someone's personal list, so you can see where a dish actually lands for the people who ate it.
Everywhere else
4.2
from 1,284 reviews of the whole restaurant. Great tacos? Fine tacos? No idea.

How it works
01
1.0 to 10.0, one decimal. Every dish on its own, not the whole restaurant.
02
Better than this one, not as good as that one. Your list becomes your taste, in order.
03
Search a dish, not a restaurant. See where it ranks for people who've eaten around.
Your rankings
Tacos, sushi, curry, croissants, steak, falafel, pho, burgers. Each category is its own list. Visit a dish again and the visits average into one ranked entry, so the list stays honest.
Opinions that count
Rate as much as you like. Your ratings in a category start counting toward public scores once you've eaten that category at ten different restaurants. One visit to one pizzeria doesn't make a pizza critic.
Pizza
Rate from the table and your phone confirms you were there. Verified ratings carry more weight.
Restaurants can't pay to move up a list or remove a rating. Sponsored spots are always labeled.
Eat the way you eat
Tell us how you eat and TasteRex favors ratings from people with the same needs. Dietary details on dishes come only from the restaurants themselves, never from a guess.
